Heartbreaking Scene — Elderly Couple and Their Dog Found Dead Inside Home

A quiet neighborhood in Liberty Township, Ohio, has been left shaken after an elderly couple was found dead in what authorities have described as a murder-suicide.

The Butler County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Frederick Buckley, 70, and Claire Buckley, 72. Officials confirmed that Frederick died by suicide while Claire’s death was ruled a homicide, with both suffering fatal gunshot wounds. Deputies also discovered the couple’s dog deceased inside the home.

Authorities were alerted after the couple’s son-in-law requested a welfare check, concerned that he had not heard from them for several days. When deputies arrived at the residence on Hidden Oaks Lane, they found the couple’s car still in the garage. Inside, Frederick was located on the floor with a gunshot wound, while Claire was found on a couch.

Neighbors described the couple as warm, friendly, and deeply devoted to one another and their dog, Luna. Many expressed disbelief, recalling recent interactions that gave no indication anything was wrong. One neighbor shared that just days earlier, the couple had been laughing and playing with their dog in the backyard.

The Buckleys had lived in the community for over a decade and were known for running a financial planning business from their home. They had also recently begun settling into a new house in Columbus, with Claire reportedly excited about the transition.

The tragedy has left neighbors searching for answers, struggling to reconcile the heartbreaking event with the couple they thought they knew.
