Investigators found the victim blocks away from where the actual shooting took place — raising new questions about what really happened in the early morning hours.
A man was shot in Rochester early Sunday morning in an incident that unfolded across two different streets — one where he was found bleeding, and another where police now believe the gun was actually fired.
Rochester Police responded around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting near Cleveland and North Streets. When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old Rochester resident with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.
“The victim was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital — his injuries are considered non-life-threatening.”
But as investigators dug deeper, the story shifted. The shooting, police say, did not actually happen at the location where the man was found. The actual crime scene, according to investigators, was near Unity and Grace Streets — a different location entirely.
It remains unclear how the man traveled between the two locations after being shot, or whether anyone else was present at the original scene. Police have not released information on a suspect or a possible motive.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call 911 directly.
