Coffee County Drug Sweep: Traffic Stops Lead to Six Arrests, Guns and Narcotics Seized

Coffee County law enforcement agencies conducted a series of traffic stops over a six-day period that resulted in multiple drug-related arrests and the seizure of illegal narcotics and firearms. The investigations are being handled by the Douglas Police Department, the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit, and the Drug Interdiction and Criminal Enforcement Unit (D.I.C.E).

Between March 17 and March 22, six individuals were taken into custody and booked into the Coffee County Jail following separate traffic stops throughout the county. Authorities say the coordinated enforcement effort focused on suspected drug activity and illegal weapons possession.

March 17: Two Arrests Linked to Methamphetamine

The first arrest occurred on March 17 when officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North Madison Avenue and East Jackson Street. Brandy Sweat was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine. The case was subsequently transferred to the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit for further investigation.

Later that same day, D.I.C.E. agents stopped Leslie Crosby on Georgia Highway 32 West. Crosby was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine. Following the arrest, investigators conducted a search of Crosby’s residence as part of the ongoing investigation.

March 18: Stolen Firearm and Multiple Drugs Recovered

On March 18, Bennett Swinson was arrested after officers uncovered a stolen firearm during a traffic stop. In addition to the weapon, authorities reported finding fentanyl, Molly, and methamphetamine. The stop was initiated by a Douglas police officer, with assistance from the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit. Investigators described the seizure as significant due to the combination of illegal narcotics and a stolen firearm.

March 20: Trafficking Charges Filed

Another arrest took place on March 20 in the area of Highway 441. Corry Hulett was stopped by members of the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit and charged with trafficking methamphetamine. Investigators reported discovering a large quantity of methamphetamine during the stop, leading to the more serious trafficking charge rather than simple possession.

March 21: DUI, Cocaine and Firearm

On March 21, Douglas police officers arrested Adan Granadas-Camacho for driving under the influence. During the investigation, officers requested assistance from the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit. Authorities reported that Granadas-Camacho was also found to be in possession of cocaine and a firearm during the commission of a crime, resulting in additional charges.

March 22: Final Arrest in Ongoing Investigation

The final arrest during this enforcement period occurred on March 22 near North Madison Avenue and North Street. Billy Reliford was taken into custody after officers reportedly discovered methamphetamine during a traffic stop. The Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit continues to investigate the case.

Ongoing Enforcement Efforts

Officials stated that these arrests highlight continued proactive enforcement efforts aimed at curbing drug distribution and illegal firearm possession in Coffee County. Law enforcement agencies emphasized their commitment to targeting narcotics trafficking and ensuring public safety through coordinated investigations.

All individuals arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Authorities noted that investigations related to these incidents remain ongoing and additional charges could be filed as cases progress.
