A quiet Hollywood Hills neighborhood was shaken Saturday night after a violent home invasion left a 75-year-old resident assaulted and thousands of dollars in valuables stolen.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. in the 7100 block of Macapa Drive. Two unidentified men reportedly broke into the home by smashing a side glass window.
The situation turned dangerous when the homeowners returned while the suspects were still inside. As the intruders fled, the elderly resident encountered them and was punched multiple times. Authorities confirmed that although the victim was injured, he did not require hospitalization.
Police said the suspects were dressed in black clothing and gloves, suggesting a planned break-in. After the assault, they escaped in a silver sedan. As of now, no detailed descriptions of the suspects have been released.
Investigators believe the burglars made off with approximately $150,000 worth of jewelry, making it a significant loss for the victims. No arrests had been made as of early Sunday, and the case remains under active investigation.
The incident has raised concerns among residents about safety and security in the area, especially during nighttime hours. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue efforts to identify and locate the suspects.
