A tragic incident in southeast Atlanta has left a community shaken after a 12-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound inside a home, leading to the arrest of a 14-year-old suspect.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, homicide detectives secured a murder warrant on Sunday and took the teenage suspect into custody without incident. He has since been transported to a Metro Youth Detention Center.
Police say officers responded to a shooting call around 1:49 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, they found the 12-year-old critically injured. Despite being rushed to the hospital and receiving emergency care, the child later died.
