A man was killed and another injured in a shooting Wednesday evening in the Chicago neighborhood of South Austin, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 7:43 p.m. in the 100 block of North Lotus Avenue. According to police, two men, ages 32 and 33, were inside an apartment when an unidentified individual opened fire.
The 32-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
The 33-year-old sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
No arrests have been announced, and investigators from Area 4 are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
