A missing kayaker was found dead Tuesday afternoon in the waters near the Deer Isle Bridge in Little Deer Isle, Maine.

Jeffrery Eaton, 55, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was reported missing by family members at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

What Happened?

Family members witnessed Eaton capsize shortly after launching his kayak from shore near Wiegand Place on the island. He did not resurface.

Body Recovered

A Marine Patrol pilot located Eaton’s body at 1:45 p.m. — roughly three hours after he was reported missing. Officers recovered his body approximately half a mile west of where he launched.
