According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews were dispatched shortly after 5 p.m. to the area near Crinnion Avenue NE and 16 Mile Road NE. When first responders arrived, they found the man, a resident of Solon Township, unresponsive at the scene. He was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary findings from authorities indicate that the man had been outdoors with a group of friends when the storm intensified. Strong winds reportedly caused multiple trees in the area to fall without warning.
