Mt. Washington Horror: Woman Accused of Running Over Ex-Boyfriend With His Own SUV

Disturbing new details are emerging from Pittsburgh’s Mt. Washington neighborhood after police say a woman intentionally ran over her ex-boyfriend using his own vehicle — leaving him in critical condition.

Authorities are calling the incident an attempted homicide.

Early Morning Chaos on Warrington Avenue

The violent scene unfolded early Sunday morning along Warrington Avenue. Investigators say the victim, identified as Arnold Hardrick, was found lying in the middle of the roadway, bleeding from the head and barely breathing.

According to police, moments earlier he had been struck by his own Chevrolet Tahoe after it allegedly jumped the curb and mounted the sidewalk.

Physical evidence of the crash was still visible on the sidewalk where authorities say the SUV veered off the road before dragging the victim back onto the street.

What Police Say Happened

Court documents state the SUV turned onto Warrington Avenue from Route 51 and stopped on the median. Hardrick and the driver — identified as Chanel Dyer — exited the vehicle, and a physical altercation reportedly followed.

Dyer initially told investigators she re-entered the SUV and drove away.

However, detectives say city surveillance footage shows the SUV accelerating directly toward Hardrick, driving up over the curb, onto the sidewalk, and striking him before speeding off.

Police later located the vehicle parked outside Hardrick’s residence.

Conflicting Accounts

During questioning, Dyer admitted she was driving at the time. She told detectives that both had been drinking at several bars prior to the incident.

She alleged Hardrick assaulted her inside the vehicle and again after they stopped, including choking her.

Dyer acknowledged seeing him standing in front of the SUV but claimed she was unaware she struck him before returning to the roadway.

Victim in Critical Condition

Hardrick suffered multiple internal injuries along with a severe head injury. As of Monday evening, he remains in critical condition.

Dyer has been charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue reviewing evidence and witness accounts surrounding the incident.
