Parolee Arrested After K-9 Unit Uncovers Meth During Idaho Falls Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop in Idaho Falls on Sunday night led to the arrest of a 41-year-old Bonneville County man on felony drug charges.

According to local law enforcement, deputies stopped Jeffery Don Williams near the intersection of Pancheri Drive and Dickson Avenue after recognizing that he was allegedly driving without a valid license. During the stop, an additional deputy arrived with a K-9 unit to assist.

The police dog conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and signaled the possible presence of narcotics. Authorities said Williams informed deputies that he was currently on parole for a prior drug trafficking conviction, though he reportedly denied having any illegal substances in the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered more than 17 grams of methamphetamine concealed in a hidden compartment beneath a seat. Deputies also reported finding items commonly associated with drug use.

Williams was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Bonneville County Jail. In addition to the felony charge for possession of methamphetamine, he is also facing a misdemeanor charge related to drug paraphernalia. The investigation remains ongoing.
