Meth and Fentanyl Seized During Arrest in Pueblo

Police in Pueblo arrested a 51-year-old man Wednesday after officers discovered significant amounts of methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl pills during a response to suspicious activity.

According to authorities, officers were alerted by a Real Time Crime Center technician who reported a man pushing a motorcycle under unusual circumstances near the intersection of 6th Street and Erie Avenue, just east of downtown Pueblo.

When officers arrived, they contacted the individual, identified as Michael Salas. During the interaction, police determined that Salas had an active municipal warrant for failure to appear in court. He was immediately taken into custody.

Investigators said Salas was wearing a backpack concealed beneath his jacket. A search of the backpack reportedly uncovered methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl pills. Officers also located an additional bag of suspected fentanyl pills on his person.

In total, authorities seized approximately 90 grams of methamphetamine and nine grams of fentanyl pills.

Salas is now facing charges of possession with intent to distribute, in addition to the outstanding warrant related to his prior failure to appear.

The investigation remains ongoing.
