A mid-day shooting at a Sunoco gas station on Pembroke Road is once again putting the spotlight on a location that residents say has become a troubling hotspot for violence.
Police responded to reports of gunfire around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday. What investigators describe as a heated argument quickly escalated into a physical fight — and then gunshots rang out.
One person was transported to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not yet released details about the victim’s condition.
A Troubling Pattern at the Same Location
This is the second violent incident at the same gas station in less than two months.
In January, 19-year-old Christian Corea was shot and killed during a shootout at the same site. Surveillance footage from that earlier incident captured chaotic scenes as bullets flew, leaving two additional people injured.
The repeated violence has shaken nearby residents, many of whom say they are increasingly uneasy about safety in the area.
“I feel afraid. I don’t feel good right now. I have family, I have kids. Every month something happens at the gas station,” said one neighbor who asked not to be identified.
Investigation Ongoing
As of Tuesday evening, police had not confirmed whether any arrests were made in connection with the latest shooting. Detectives continue to review evidence and speak with witnesses as they work to determine exactly what led to the confrontation.
With two serious incidents occurring within weeks of each other, the gas station has become a growing concern for the community — raising questions about security and public safety in the area.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation remains active.
