Philadelphia Weather Whiplash: 70s Friday, 80s Saturday, Rain Returns on Easter

Philadelphia is in for a dramatic weather swing this weekend, bringing a taste of summer before a rainy Easter cooldown.

Friday starts off grey and a bit tricky. Patchy fog and light sprinkles may slow down the morning commute, especially on bridges and elevated roads where visibility could drop. Temperatures will feel cool early, so a light jacket is a good idea—but don’t get too comfortable. By afternoon, conditions flip quickly, with sunshine breaking through and highs climbing to around 78°F. It’ll feel nearly 30 degrees warmer than Thursday, making it a perfect evening to plan outdoor dining.

The warm stretch continues into Saturday, when temperatures could surge into the low 80s—possibly challenging records. While most of the day looks dry and pleasant, a few isolated afternoon showers or brief thunder can’t be ruled out. Still, severe weather is not expected.

Easter Sunday brings another shift. A cold front moving into the region is likely to trigger a line of showers and possible thunderstorms. Despite the rain chances, temperatures will remain mild, with highs around 71°F.

Looking ahead, the warmth won’t last. By Monday, sunshine returns but with cooler air, dropping highs back into the upper 50s. The rest of the week stays seasonable, with partly cloudy skies and typical early spring temperatures.

If you’re making weekend plans, Friday and Saturday are your best bets to enjoy the outdoors—just keep an umbrella handy for Easter.
