POCOMOKE CITY, Md. — A 32-year-old Pocomoke City woman has been sentenced to prison after authorities say she stole more than $191,000 from her employer over several months while working as a business manager.
Taylor Clark was sentenced Tuesday in Wicomico County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to theft over $100,000 and insurance fraud. According to court officials, Clark received a 20-year sentence for the theft charge, with all but three years suspended, along with an additional two-year sentence tied to the insurance fraud conviction.
In total, Clark is expected to serve five years behind bars. After her release, she will remain on supervised probation for five years and must repay the money taken from the victims.
Investigators said Clark was hired by the business in November 2024 as a business manager. Authorities allege that beginning the following month, she carried out a series of unauthorized financial transactions, including purchases, cash withdrawals, stolen cash deposits, and improper additions to her own pay.
The alleged scheme continued for months before being uncovered on Sept. 22, 2025. Officials say the losses eventually exceeded $191,000.
During the investigation, authorities also discovered that Clark had submitted a fraudulent letter to an employer-sponsored insurance company in an attempt to add her significant other as a beneficiary on her health insurance policy.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney Jamie Dykes said the case highlights the damage caused when employees misuse positions of trust for personal gain.
Investigators credited members of the Salisbury Police Department and Certified Fraud Examiner Dana Peterson for helping uncover the financial crimes and assisting with the investigation.
