A routine police stop quickly turned into a tense pursuit on Friday, April 10, after officers attempted to pull over a suspected stolen vehicle in Albany, Georgia. What followed was a crash, a foot chase, and the discovery of multiple firearms, raising concerns about possible links to other crimes in the area.

According to the Albany Police Department, officers initially tried to stop the vehicle, but the situation escalated when the car crashed during the encounter. Three individuals immediately fled the scene on foot, prompting a search operation involving local law enforcement.

The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office joined the search, deploying K-9 units to track the suspects. Sergeant Michael Hefton and K-9 Maverick played a key role in locating evidence, including a firearm equipped with a switch and a magazine believed to be connected to the suspects.

Shortly after, one of the individuals, identified as Jaylann Tift, was found hiding inside a nearby shed and was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities later confirmed that additional firearms were recovered from inside the crashed vehicle.

Investigators believe the suspect may be connected to other local criminal activities, though details are still emerging. The case remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the full scope of the incident and any potential threats to public safety.
