River Falls, Wisconsin – Bank Stabbing Suspect Arrested After Crash With City Vehicle

A violent incident in River Falls on Monday left a bank employee injured and ended with a suspect in custody after a dramatic sequence involving a crash and attempted escape, according to local authorities.

Police say the situation began at First National Bank on East Locust Street, where officers responded to reports of a stabbing and attempted robbery. Investigators allege that a male suspect entered the bank, tried to steal money, and stabbed an employee before fleeing the scene.

The injured employee was quickly transported by Allina EMS to River Falls Area Hospital. Officials later confirmed that the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening and that they are expected to recover.

Authorities tracked the suspect shortly after the incident. Police said the individual was seen driving eastbound on Cascade Avenue near Sixth Street when the situation escalated. The suspect’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an unmarked parking enforcement vehicle operated by the River Falls Police Department.

The crash left both vehicles disabled. Officials noted that the parking enforcement officer involved was not seriously injured.

After the collision, the suspect allegedly attempted to flee on foot. Law enforcement officers quickly pursued and took the individual into custody within a short time.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, Prescott Police Department, University of Wisconsin–River Falls Police Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol, highlighting the coordinated effort to manage the situation safely.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect or confirmed what charges will be filed. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to gather details about the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident.

Residents in the area expressed concern over the sudden violence but also relief that the suspect was quickly apprehended and that the injured employee is expected to recover.
