A series of coordinated law enforcement actions across Plumas County resulted in seven arrests and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics, firearms, and suspected criminal proceeds over a two-week period.
Authorities reported that approximately 288 grams of controlled substances were recovered during four separate incidents occurring between late February and mid-March.
Feb. 25 – Beckwourth Area Traffic Stop
The first arrest occurred on Feb. 25 when a deputy initiated a traffic stop in the Beckwourth area. The driver, identified as Wade Deberg, was detained after deputies discovered methamphetamine and evidence pointing to additional criminal activity.
A subsequent search warrant executed at Deberg’s residence led to the discovery of roughly 30 grams of methamphetamine and multiple firearms, including what officials described as an assault-style rifle. He was taken into custody on various drug and weapons-related charges.
March 5 – Portola Traffic Violation
On the evening of March 5, deputies conducted another traffic stop in the Portola area after observing a vehicle violation. The driver, Jonathon Pope, and passenger, Eric Holmes, were determined to be under the influence during the encounter.
Authorities reported finding a container in Pope’s possession containing nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine. Additional evidence collected at the scene suggested further unlawful activity. Both individuals were arrested on drug-related charges.
March 7 – Highway 70 Investigation
Two days later, deputies investigated a vehicle parked in what was described as a suspicious location along Highway 70 outside Portola. Three occupants — Monica Baca, Benjamin Hollcroft, and Jeffery Burkhart of Sacramento — were identified during the contact.
One individual had an outstanding warrant, while the other two admitted to recent methamphetamine use and possession. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered 43 grams of methamphetamine along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia. All three were arrested.
March 13 – Probation Check in Quincy
The final incident took place on March 13 when a deputy assisted probation officers with a compliance check at a residence in Quincy belonging to Angelique DeCrona.
During the visit, authorities reported finding evidence of alcohol and narcotics use, including approximately 15 grams of cocaine. Investigators also cited additional criminal concerns, leading to DeCrona’s arrest on drug-related and child endangerment charges.
Ongoing Enforcement Efforts
Across all four incidents, officials seized nearly 300 grams of controlled substances, along with firearms and other evidence linked to suspected criminal activity.
Authorities stated that investigations remain ongoing and emphasized continued enforcement efforts aimed at reducing drug-related crime within the county.
