Teen Killed in Afternoon Shooting in Cicero, Illinois; Investigation Ongoing

CICERO, Ill. — A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in the west suburban community of Cicero, authorities said.

According to a spokesperson for the Town of Cicero, police officers responded around 3:20 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 2100 block of 59th Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a teenage boy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders provided aid at the scene before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite life-saving efforts, the teen was later pronounced dead, officials confirmed.

Police have not released the victim’s identity pending family notification. Details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain limited as investigators work to piece together what happened.

Authorities said no suspects were in custody as of Thursday evening. It is unclear whether the shooting was targeted or if others may have been involved.

The Cicero Police Department is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone with information to come forward. Detectives are expected to review evidence from the scene and canvass the area for witnesses and possible surveillance footage.
