Texas Woman Confesses to Killing Mother and Stepfather, Bodies Found Near Medina Lake

A tragic case out of Texas has left a community shaken after a woman admitted to killing her own mother and stepfather, authorities confirmed.

According to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called on April 8 for a welfare check after Stephen Rehbein failed to show up for work. When officers arrived at the family’s residence in Mico, they found signs suggesting something was seriously wrong.

As investigators dug deeper, they identified a vehicle connected to the case and tracked it to Corpus Christi. Local police stopped the vehicle, where they found two adults—29-year-old Cassandra Lange and 30-year-old Joby Williams—along with two young children.

During questioning, Lange confessed that she and Williams had killed her mother, Cherry Rehbein, and stepfather, Stephen Rehbein. Investigators say the couple then disposed of the bodies in a remote ravine near Medina Lake.

Search teams worked through difficult nighttime conditions before locating two bodies hidden in large garbage bags deep within the ravine. The remains have been sent for autopsy.

Both suspects are now in custody, facing capital murder charges. Meanwhile, the children—just 6 years and 1 month old—have been placed under protective care and are being reunited with relatives.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the killings as the community grapples with the shocking loss.
