San Francisco witnessed two violent incidents on public transportation Friday after separate stabbings were reported aboard Muni buses just hours apart, according to police.
The first incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. near Mission and 13th streets in the city’s Mission District. Officers responding to the scene found a woman suffering from stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel provided treatment at the location before transporting her to a nearby hospital. Authorities have not released details about her condition.
Police have not announced any arrests connected to the afternoon incident and have not shared information about a possible suspect. Investigators are continuing to review evidence and speak with potential witnesses.
Later that evening, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers were called to another stabbing near 6th and Mission streets. Responding personnel located a man who had sustained stab wounds while riding a Muni bus. Officers administered first aid until paramedics arrived. He was taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Preliminary findings suggest the second incident stemmed from an argument between two male passengers that escalated into a physical confrontation. During the altercation, one individual allegedly stabbed the other before fleeing the scene. No suspect has been identified publicly, and authorities have not confirmed whether the two stabbings are connected.
Both incidents remain under active investigation. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding each attack, including reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
The stabbings have raised renewed concerns about rider safety on public transportation in the city. Officials have not yet released additional safety guidance but encourage passengers to report suspicious or aggressive behavior immediately.
Anyone with information about either incident is urged to contact the San Francisco Police Department to assist with the ongoing investigations.
