Undercover Operation Leads to Three Arrests, Large Marijuana Seizure in Sunset

An undercover narcotics operation in Sunset on Tuesday evening resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of approximately two pounds of marijuana, according to local law enforcement.

Authorities identified the suspects as 19-year-old Jakaylin Foreman of Lafayette, 19-year-old Paul Alvin Potier IV of Lafayette, and 22-year-old Devontae Hermandez Jerome Ardoin of Ville Platte.

Foreman faces charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs. Potier is charged with principal to possession with intent to distribute marijuana, along with possession of a firearm in the presence of drugs.

Ardoin faces multiple charges, including principal to possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, aggravated assault, resisting an officer, and criminal property damage.

The operation began shortly after 6 p.m., when narcotics detectives initiated an undercover investigation in the area. With support from local police, two vehicles connected to the suspects were located and stopped.

During the arrest, Ardoin allegedly attempted to flee and resisted officers. He was eventually apprehended with assistance from a police K-9 unit. Law enforcement officials stated that at least one suspect was believed to be armed and prepared to confront officers during the encounter.

Officials also noted that an unidentified citizen played a significant role in helping officers capture the fleeing suspect.

In total, authorities reported seizing about two pounds of marijuana as a result of the operation. The investigation remains ongoing.
