Utah Off-Road Crash Leaves Two Teens Critically Injured During Spring Break Trip

A Spring Break trip turned into a life-altering tragedy for two Southern California teenagers after a devastating off-road accident in Utah left both girls hospitalized with severe injuries.

The incident happened on April 2 near St. George, Utah, when a group of families was returning to their campsite in a convoy of off-road vehicles. According to those present, a Polaris RZR carrying the two teens suddenly overturned and caught fire.

Within moments, the peaceful outing turned into a rescue scene. Adults in the group, many with emergency response experience, rushed to act. Using fire extinguishers and medical kits they carried, they managed to pull the girls from the burning vehicle and control the flames.

One of the victims, 15-year-old Brooklyn Mallet, daughter of an Orange County firefighter, suffered burns over more than 40% of her body. She has already undergone multiple surgeries. Her friend, also from Southern California, sustained serious injuries to her face, neck, chest, and arm.

Both teens were airlifted to a specialized burn unit in Las Vegas, where they continue to receive intensive care. Their families are now facing a long and uncertain road to recovery, both emotionally and financially.

Despite the trauma, those involved say quick action at the scene likely saved the girls’ lives. The families are now staying near the hospital for extended treatment, with community support growing through prayers and fundraising efforts.

The accident remains a painful reminder of how quickly outdoor adventures can turn into emergencies—and how crucial preparedness can be in saving lives.
