Vermont's rainy week is almost over — here's when the 70s and sunshine finally arrive

BURLINGTON, Vermont — If it feels like the rain is never going to stop, hang on just a little longer.

Northern Vermont is locked into a wet and cool stretch through the end of the workweek — but what is waiting on the other side is worth it.

The National Weather Service says showers will continue developing across the Burlington area Wednesday morning and spread throughout the afternoon and evening. Rain chances stay very high all the way through Thursday night, with several rounds of steady rainfall expected across Chittenden County and surrounding communities.

How Much Rain Are We Talking?

Wednesday alone could bring around a quarter inch of rainfall in some spots, with more coming Wednesday night and into Thursday.

Temperatures will stay cool throughout the rainy stretch. Expect highs near 57 degrees Wednesday and around 61 degrees Thursday — not exactly the kind of weather that makes you want to step outside.

Thursday night showers carry into Friday morning before gradually tapering off through the afternoon. Friday’s high climbs to around 65 degrees as partial sunshine begins working its way back into parts of northern Vermont.

The Weekend Is a Complete Turnaround

Saturday is where things get good.

After days of clouds and rain, Saturday brings mostly sunny skies and highs near 76 degrees across the Green Mountain State. Sunday stays mild with temperatures in the mid-70s under partly sunny skies.

If you have been putting off outdoor plans, this is the weekend to make them happen.

Next Week Looks Even Better

The warm trend does not stop at the weekend.

Temperatures climb into the upper 70s Monday and could reach the mid-80s by Tuesday. Isolated shower chances exist, but nothing that should derail plans for most of the week.

For Burlington residents who have endured a grey and damp stretch, next week is shaping up to be one of the nicest of the season so far.
