18-Year-Old Was Expected to Survive — Then Doctors Delivered the Worst News

A night out turned deadly in Allentown, Pennsylvania — and the community is demanding answers.

An 18-year-old from Bethlehem was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg at 1:55 p.m. Monday — days after being shot at a local McDonald’s.

What makes this case even more shocking? He was initially expected to survive.

What Happened That Friday Night

The shooting happened around 9:10 p.m. on Friday, May 15, at the McDonald’s located at 1321 Union Blvd. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately rendered first aid before EMS transported him to the hospital.

A second victim also suffered a graze wound, according to emergency dispatch reports.

How It Started

Initial investigation determined the shooting stemmed from a disturbance during which several gunshots were fired. A firearm believed to have been used in the incident was recovered.

Police flooded the area that night, surrounding the restaurant with crime scene tape as part of Union Boulevard was temporarily shut down.

Investigation Still Open

The death has been ruled a homicide. No arrests or suspects have been announced.

The investigation remains active, involving the Allentown Police Detective Division, Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Police said there is no threat to the community.
