Robbery Suspect Wanted After Fleeing Police During Traffic Stop in Bowling Green

Bowling Green, Ky. — Police are searching for a Bowling Green man accused of assaulting a victim during a robbery and later fleeing from officers during a traffic stop, authorities said.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, investigators identified Nawatha Murrell, 27, as a suspect in a robbery that occurred Wednesday evening. During the incident, police say a victim was assaulted, prompting an active criminal investigation.

Attempted Traffic Stop Ends in Pursuit

Police said that on Thursday, Dec. 8, officers attempted to stop a vehicle Murrell was driving as part of the robbery investigation. Murrell allegedly failed to stop and fled from officers, leading to a brief pursuit.

Authorities stated that the chase was eventually called off after officers determined Murrell’s driving posed a danger to other motorists on the road. Police did not release details about the vehicle involved or how long the pursuit lasted.

Multiple Active Warrants Filed

Police confirmed that Murrell currently has multiple active warrants, including serious felony charges. According to BGPD, those charges include:

  • First-degree robbery
  • Second-degree assault
  • Parole violation
  • Multiple counts of first-degree wanton endangerment
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • First-degree fleeing or evading police, among additional charges

Investigators said the charges stem from both the robbery incident and Murrell’s actions during the attempted traffic stop.
