A 25-year-old Florida man is behind bars after police say he confessed to killing his father — and the chilling messages he sent to family members are now at the center of a homicide investigation.
A Florida man is in custody after telling his own grandmother he killed his father — and allegedly texting a photo of the body to his mother in Germany, police say.
Andres Bahamon, 25, is being held at Marion County Jail as a person of interest in his father’s disappearance. His father, Andres Bahamon-Prada, 43, was last seen May 7 after visiting his mother in Williston, Florida, and heading to the gym.
The Messages That Led to an Arrest
When the elder Bahamon-Prada stopped responding to calls, his mother texted her grandson asking about his whereabouts. He claimed he didn’t know — then said his father was “preventing the flower from blooming.”
Days later, the grandmother ran into Bahamon at a local store. According to court documents, he allegedly told her directly: “I killed him.”
Police say Bahamon also texted his mother — who lives in Germany — and sent what appeared to be a photo of his father’s dead body. His mother immediately forwarded the image to the grandmother, urging her: “Andres just sent me this picture and warned me not to get in his way!!!!”
When the grandmother begged to know if her son was alive, Bahamon allegedly replied: “I think he’s dead — he was in hell where he deserves to be.”
Human Remains Found on Property
Marion County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating the disappearance on May 16, finding evidence of foul play and opening a homicide investigation.
During a search warrant at the home where father and son both lived, detectives found a bullet near the porch and recently disturbed dirt in the yard. Human remains — wrapped in a carpet — were later discovered on the property. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the remains.
What Happens Next
Bahamon was charged with tampering with evidence and is being held without bond. He reportedly refused to cooperate during police questioning. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 23.
