A late-night dispute in Brighton Heights turned violent on Thursday after a man was shot during an altercation, according to local authorities.
Emergency responders were called to the 3300 block of Fleming Avenue around 9:31 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected approximately 16 rounds fired in the area. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
The victim was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Officials have not released his identity.
Police acted swiftly following the incident and located a suspect on the 3100 block of Wadlow Street shortly afterward. The individual was taken into custody without further incident. Authorities also confirmed that a firearm believed to be connected to the shooting was recovered at the scene.
