Multi-Agency Drug Bust in Eufaula Leads to Two Arrests, Major Seizure of Narcotics and Cash

A coordinated drug enforcement operation in Eufaula has resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics, cash, and firearms, authorities confirmed this week.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, agents from the State Bureau of Investigation (Region B) and the Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force executed a search warrant on April 1 as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug activity in the region.

During the operation, investigators recovered approximately 557 grams of amphetamine pills, 189 grams of opioid pills, around seven pounds of marijuana, and nearly two pounds of synthetic cannabinoids. Authorities also seized precursor chemicals used in drug manufacturing, $64,120 in cash, and four firearms.

Officials identified the suspects as 35-year-old Johnrecis Jones and 36-year-old Shavannah Moreland, both residents of Eufaula. Jones faces multiple charges, including three counts of drug trafficking, unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance, and illegal possession of a firearm. Moreland has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking and unlawful manufacturing.

Both suspects are currently being held without bond at the city jail.

Law enforcement officials emphasized that the operation reflects strong collaboration among multiple agencies, including regional sheriff’s offices and local police departments. Authorities noted that such partnerships are essential in combating drug-related crimes and enhancing community safety.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
