A quiet South Florida neighborhood was shaken after a disturbing incident led to the death of a 35-year-old man who fell from a high-rise condominium balcony in Miami Beach, according to authorities.
Officials from the Miami Beach Police Department said the incident occurred on February 15 at a residential building near Collins Avenue. The victim, identified as Justin Zelin, was reportedly inside his apartment when a confrontation turned deadly.
Investigators say a 911 call placed by Zelin moments before his death played a crucial role in identifying the suspect. During the call, Zelin can allegedly be heard urgently asking someone named “Sasha” to leave his home. The call abruptly ended, but sounds of a struggle continued in the background.
Police later identified “Sasha” as an alias used by 37-year-old Corey Hutterli, who has since been taken into custody. Officers arriving at the scene found Hutterli exiting the apartment, appearing visibly distressed and out of breath. He reportedly told officers that Zelin had attacked him first.
However, evidence collected at the scene raised serious concerns. Authorities noted that DNA belonging to Hutterli was found in blood on the balcony, and forensic analysis revealed a mixture of DNA from both men on his clothing. Investigators also documented injuries on Hutterli and signs of a violent struggle inside the apartment.
The case remains under investigation as officials work to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the fatal fall.
