TUSTIN, California — A mother of three is dead, and the person who shot her is still on the loose.
The shooting was reported Thursday evening at around 6 p.m. after residents near 17th and Yorba streets called 911 saying they heard gunfire in the quiet Orange County neighborhood.
When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old woman on the east curb of the street, partially behind a white SUV. Despite emergency response, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members confirmed her identity and described her as a mother of three. Her name has not been officially released by authorities.
What Witnesses Saw
Several people in the area told responding officers they saw a man dressed in black clothing leave the scene shortly after the shots were fired.
He was seen getting into a dark, older-model sedan and driving away.
A detailed physical description of the suspect and the vehicle has not yet been released by police. No arrests had been made as of early Friday afternoon.
No Clear Motive Yet
Investigators have not released any information about what may have led to the shooting.
It remains unclear whether the victim knew her attacker or whether this was a random act of violence.
Police said they do not believe the general public is currently at risk, but the investigation is active and ongoing.
